‘Stark Trek Into Darkness’ has come under fire after female character Dr. Carol Marcus stripped down into just her bra and underwear, seemingly for no reason. The film’s writer admits it was ‘gratuitous’ — do YOU agree?
As is typical in big Hollywood blockbusters, the sci fi thriller Star Trek into Darkness features a beautiful woman — Dr. Carol Marcus played by Alice Eve — stripping down into a skimpy bra and panty set. Movie reviewer Jill Pantozzi slammed the film for the misogynistic scene in a harsh online review.
‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ — Underwear Scene ‘For No Reason’
Jill took to her personal website to reveal her disdain for the film — especially the scene of Dr. Carol Marcus in her bra and panties.
“Suffice to say, her purpose in the film was minimal and they made her stand around in underwear for absolutely no reason. We didn’t even see an actual display of the intelligence she was touted to have,” she wrote on her site thenerdybird.com.
Damon Lindelof Agrees Alice Eve Scene Was ‘Gratuitous’
Star Trek Into Darkness screenwriter Damon Lindelof took full responsibility for the criticism, and even agreed that the racy scene was unnecessary. He more or less apologized for offensive scene on twitter
"I copped to the fact that we should have done a better job of not being gratuitous in our representation of a barely clothed actress,” Damon tweeted.
He later added, “I take full responsibility, and will be more mindful in the future.”
We think it’s great that Damon owned up to the scene being offensive! What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Did you watch the movie? What did you think? Let us know in the comments below!
