Chad Johnson decided to slap his lawyer’s rear end in front of a female judge, and he was punished for it. His playful behavior cost the former football star thirty days behind bars.

Chad Johnson, also known as Chad Ochocinco, was supposed to enter a plea agreement, allowing him to avoid jail time for a domestic violence probation violation. However, the judge had a change of heart after the athlete slapped his lawyer, Adam Swickle‘s butt.

Chad Johnson Sentenced To 30 Days In Jail — Slaps His Lawyer’s Butt In Court

Chad was in Florida’s Broward County court Monday, June 10, in connection with violating his domestic violence probation. The former NFL player was expected to sign off on a plea agreement that would enable him to avoid jail time, and instead undergo counseling and participate in community service. When the judge Kathleen McHugh, who presided over the case, expressed that he had an excellent lawyer, Chad agreed and joyfully slapped him on the butt.

The people in court broke into laughter, which infuriated the judge, who was noticeably pissed off. She asked Chad if he thought this whole thing was a joke.

“I don’t know that you’re taking this whole thing seriously,” said Judge McHugh. “I just saw you slap your attorney on the backside. Is there something funny about this? The whole courtroom was laughing. I’m not going to accept these plea negotiations. This isn’t a joke.”

His lawyer immediately defended Chad, saying the football player didn’t mean to be disrespectful. Johnson also apologized, saying:

“This is your courtroom. I have no intent to make this a joke. It’s not funny. My life is in shambles right now and I try my best to laugh and keep a smile on my face.”

As a result, the judge refused to accept the plea deal — Chad was immediately put in handcuffs and sentenced to thirty days in jail.

Was The Judge Being Too Harsh?
