Feast your eyes on Cory & Topanga… 13 years later! ‘Girl Meets World’ will premiere in 2014.
It’s really happening, guys! Disney Channel has officially ordered Girl Meets World – the updated spin-off of the classic sitcom Boy Meets World – to series, and the network has even released the first stills from the pilot! The main photo reveals Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) looking lovingly on their daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her BFF Maya (Sabrina Carpenter.)
‘Girl Meets World’: Official Description From Disney Channel
Set in New York City, the new comedy series will tell the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that Boy Meets World is renowned for — only this time from a tween girl's perspective — as the curious and bright 7th grader Riley and her quick-witted friend Maya (played by Sabrina Carpenter) embark on an unforgettable middle school experience. But their plans for a carefree year will be adjusted slightly under the watchful eyes of Riley's dad who's also a faculty member — and their new History teacher — and Riley's mom who owns a trendy afterschool hangout that specializes in pudding.
Former Cast Members Returning For ‘Girl Meets World’
HollywoodLife.com chatted with nearly every original Boy Meets World cast member June 6 at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, and they gave us the scoop on how their characters could soon be seen on Girl Meets World.
“Based on the response [to the spin-off], I feel like we owe it to the fans to finish Shawn's story line, but I don't know what that means yet,” Rider Strong told us. “They shot the pilot, and I have no idea what's happening after that. I'm assuming they'll do at least six episodes, and I think it'd be good to show up and say hi.”
HollywoodLifers, how stoked are you for Girl Meets World?
