Cara Delevingne gets the last laugh in recent fashion face-off!
Model of the moment Cara Delevingne, has won millions of fans over since her rapid rise to stardom. However, designer Marc Jacobs, 50, hasn’t always been ‘team Cara’ — in fact, he once even dissed her and cut her from walking in his show!
Marc Jacobs Cara Delevingne Diss:
Oh, what just one season can do in the world of fashion. Cara has gained a rapid following since her runway debut last season. However, getting her big break wasn’t easy. When the 5 ft 9″ model first met the American designer he wasn’t interested.
In fact, Delevingne’s discovery is owed much in part to Jacobs’s stylist and Louis Vuitton assistant, Katie Grand. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Grand reveals how her sympathy may have been the model’s saving grace.
“I suppose it came about because we’d had a run-in with her in the train season at Vuitton a/w12.” Grand explains: “I was trying to get her in the show, but it was the show in which everyone was very tall, and very long. I remember Marc looking at me and saying, ‘Why is that dwarf in here?’ and me being devastated.”
Grand felt so embarrassed by the incident that she began to invite Delevingne to all her key shows and shoots. It didn’t take long for others to start taking notice of the English model — and the rest is history!
It seems Jacobs has, indeed, had a change of heart. He has since booked Cara for both his mainline, the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 show and chose her to be featured in his ‘Protect The Skin You’re In’ initiative to raise money for skin cancer research.
These days, it seems Cara it doing alright. The model seems to be very comfortable in her own skin, recently posting some inspiration to her Instagram that reads, “Be you. If they don’t respect you for who you are, what in the world makes you think they’d respect you for who you aren’t?”
