July 4th celebrations are just around the corner and what better way to celebrate America than with an all-new episode of America’s Got Talent? The acts on the July 2 episode definitely upped the standards for future auditions and made us all proud to be an American!
Top 5 Performances For July 2
5. Branden James: Opera’s Most Passionate
We’ve seen many opera performances on this season of America’s Got Talent but this one ranks among the top in terms of emotional performances. The passion in which Branden sings is incredible, he brings tears to your eyes. He won praise from all the judges and the audience. Howie Mandel duly noted that Branden will inspire so many people with his voice and even told his mom that she’d created a “gem.” He’s right about that!
4. David Ferman: The Most Amazing WTF Moment
We thought this 19-year-old was just going to perform a simple juggling act. Boy, were we wrong. This guy performed one heck of a dangerous balancing act. He balanced a Molotov cocktail (Google it) on top of a balloon (and we’re all basically holding our breaths at this point) until it pops and David is still balancing the deadly cocktail! Whew! The judges were stunned at his bravery and skill, as were we. We agree with Nick Cannon; Chicago is on fire with these performances!
3. American Hitmen: The Next Name In Rock’n'Roll
Now this is what America is all about. These former Marine Corps used the skills they’d practiced while serving in Iraq and it paid off. They sang their version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and brought down the house in an amazing rock’n'roll performance. Howard Stern said it best about this group: “We’ve been waiting for two seasons to find a band to go all the way and I think we’ve found it.” We salute this band all the way to Radio City Music Hall!
2. David Fenley: The Unknown Talent
Let’s face it, David was the guy you’d least expect to wow you with his voice. This guy proved us wrong and then some. His original acoustic version of Alex Clare’s “Too Close” had us swaying to the music. His voice was just so unique — rugged, raspy, and powerful. Howie couldn’t believe David had been under the music radar for so long. Mel B told David that she “liked it a lot” and he responded in the most epic way possible: “Is it what you want, what you really, really want?” SPICE GIRLS REFERENCE! If you didn’t love this hidden talent before, then you definitely love him now.
1. Chicago Boyz: The Human Jump Rope
There are just so many wonderful things to say about this incredible act. This highly-unique routine involving jump ropes and acrobatics knocked our socks off! At first, we thought it was a simple jump rope routine. But these guys are something special, they started tumbling and dancing while jump roping. Yes, you saw correctly. They even made a human jump rope! The sheer athleticism of this group is unprecedented yet on this season. Heidi Klum was amazed at the group’s amazing skills and Mel B found it “unique and captivating.” If this is just their first performance for America, then we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in the coming weeks!
