Selena Gomez doesn’t seem to be making much progress getting over ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. While some people are quick to return — or even set fire to — clothes left behind by an ex, the “Slow Down” singer was spotted wearing Justin’s shirt (an oversized men's T by Alexander Wang tank) when she went to Disneyland with Austin Mahone on June 26.
Selena was all smiles when she stepped out with Austin, but she obviously still had Bieber on the brain. A source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Selena wore the shirt to send Justin a message. As if her song “Come and Get It” wasn’t enough of a sign.
“Selena must have known that Justin would see it, and she’s not a vindictive person so it’s not about hurting him,” the source says. ”Knowing her she’s sending him a message. She’s not going to make the first move and call him but if he reaches out to her, she’ll pick up the phone.”
One thing’s for sure — Selena’s friends won’t be happy if the two singers rekindle their on-again, off-again relationship. Selena’s pals really want her to make a break for good, so they’re making a big effort to keep her busy.
“They don’t want her to get weak and start talking to him again,” the source reveals.
Experts: Selena Wore Justin’s Shirt Because She Still Loves Him
Given the nature of their rocky romance, it’s no surprise Selena is having trouble letting Justin –and his clothes — go.
“She absolutely still loves him,” relationship expert and 30-Second Therapist on the Today Show Dr. Gilda Carle tells us. ”If she wasn't interested in seeing if there's still a chance between the two of them, she wouldn't be wearing his shirt — she would have burned it!”
Selena obviously has access to lots of gorgeous clothes, so why would she choose to wear Justin’s shirt over anything else? Gilda says she might have worn the shirt to see what kind of reaction she gets from Justin.
“She's not willing to say ‘I'm still caring for you’ or ‘I still have feelings for you,’ but [wearing the shirt is] like putting a toe in the water to test how cold or hot the water is,” she explains.
Dr. Carole Lieberman agrees.
“Selena Gomez is apparently still hooked on Justin Bieber,” she says. “Despite all the trouble he’s gotten into since they broke up, which should have validated her decision to break up with him, it seems to have had the opposite effect.”
