It’s a girl for ‘My Girl’ star Anna Chlumsky! Former child star and Emmy-nominated actress gave birth to a baby daughter, Penelope Joan, on July 11. Congrats, Anna!
Anna Chlumsky, 32, welcomed a baby girl named Penelope Joan So on July 11, with her husband, Shaun So, 32. Penelope is the first child for the couple, and they couldn’t be happier! Congrats to the new parents!
Anna Chlumsky Gives Birth To Baby Girl
Anna and Shaun announced the birth of their baby girl on July 18, but Penelope was actually born on July 11, one week before. Anna gushed to People about her new daughter:
She's a really good mix between my husband and me. When she's with him, you see him, and when she's with me, you see me. She's a perfect mix.
Although no pictures have been released, Anna described what her daughter looks like.
"We think she has my mouth, but it's hard to tell,” she said. “Even the color of her eyes, they are different in different light. But she has a really full head of hair."
Anna Chlumsky: Motherhood Is ‘Seriously The Best Thing’
As a first time mom, Anna is so excited for every experience that comes with motherhood. She told People:
I'm really surprised how real it is. What's really strange is how fast it happened. You prepare for so long, and all of a sudden the baby's here. It's seriously the best thing.
She also said she loves holding her baby girl — how adorable!
“Holding her is fantastic,” she added. “It's one of the more enjoyable things. It doesn't get boring at all. I could hold her all day."
Anna Chlumsky Celebrates First Emmy Nomination
July is definitely Anna’s month! After welcoming her first child on July 11, she also got to celebrate her first Emmy nomination a week later on July 18!
Anna got a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role in the HBO comedy Veep, and she couldn’t believe the news! She told People of her nomination:
I'm still in shock. It was neat because it was me and my husband and my daughter all in the room getting the news at the same time. When [my manager] told me, it was that nervous, happy, appreciative laughter. I just laughed a lot! It feels really great to have your work noticed.
Between a new baby girl and an Emmy nomination, Anna couldn’t help but be one happy woman!
"I'm really, really happy. I'm just smiley," she said. "I have this new bundle of love that's now in my life. She has made my life even better."
