Sels is almost 21! In honor of her upcoming birthday we’re taking a look back at how her style has evolved throughout the years — she has literally grown up in front of our eyes!
Selena Gomez started off as an adorable young girl on the Disney Channel — but now she’s a stunning star with a major sense of style! In honor of the 20-year-old’s upcoming birthday on July 22, we couldn’t think of a better way to honor her than with a gallery of some of her best looks throughout the years. From jeans and vests on the red carpet to jaw dropping cutout gowns we can’t believe how much Selena has matured and how much her style has adapted to her mature personality.
Selena Gomez’s Changing Style:
What we couldn’t help but notice is that when Selena and her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Justin Bieber, started dating in 2011 her style and fashion sense did a complete 360! From small town girl to sexy bombshell, see Selena’s sexy transformation right here!
Selena Gomez In 2007:
Back in 2007 at the world premiere Of Walt Disney‘s Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End, Selena looked so young in a casual yet age-appropriate ensemble. She decided to wear a pair of black Converse sneakers, black skinny jeans, a long tank, and a fitted brown vest on the red carpet. 2007 was definitely her rocker stage because later that year she wore a pair of black and grey animal print skinny jeans with black flats, a black tank top, and bracelets to the red carpet at the 2007 Teen Choice Awards.
The star soon swapped her jeans and sneakers for more form-fitting looks and even bangs! The star rocked brands like BCBG that allowed her to show off a more mature look while still being totally appropriate — she always looked so polished! She even managed to rock old Hollywood glamour, like when she attended the Hollywood Style Awards in LA, where she stunned in a black silk Notte by Marchesa dress.
Selena Gomez’s Style — When It All Changed:
2010 was a pivotal year for Selena. Not only was it the year she started to date Bieber, but at 18 the star started really coming into her own — and she was embracing sexier styles! From chiffon and sequins to cutouts and short hemlines, Selena still always managed to make the transition in an effortlessly chic way — and that’s not an easy task for a starlet.
Selena Gomez’s Style In 2011:
2011 is the year Selena completely peaked! Making her first appearance with Justin on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, she looked breathtaking in a gorgeous red Dolce & Gabbana gown with a plunging neckline. Then she killed it when she showed up to the Justin Bieber: Never Say Never Los Angeles premiere in a mini silk Reem Acra dress with a low neckline and a very short hemline — whoah! But the look that was the icing on the cake was her 2011 Billboard Music Awards dress. Selena went from sweet star to sexy show-stopper in her cutout Dolce & Gabbana gown. As it turned out, those cutouts were not originally on the gorgeous black gown – Selena requested to have them put in! Her stylist, Basia Richard, told HollywoodLife, "Initally the dress came with no cutouts and Selena really loved it, but we felt like something was missing so we decided to add the custom cutouts to make it even more glamorous. It was mainly Selena's idea and we decided to take a chance. We loved it and she was so happy. She loved it so much and the confidence came out it was a completely different dress for us, she owned it!"
Selena Gomez’s Current Style:
Selena has maintained her sexy style and has gone above and beyond with it. While her everyday look is much more boho chic, on the red carpet she’s a total screen siren and rocks all the hottest trends — and that’s exactly what she did while promoting her more adult role in Spring Breakers. From shimmering gowns and slits to crop tops, there isn’t a look she’s afraid to try. She has fun experimenting with her style but still keeps it appropriate — she’s a pro!
We love Selena’s sexy transformation. From skinny jeans & sneakers to high fashion labels like D&G and Versace, she matured and did sexy the right way. She knows how to totally rock it without overdoing it or making it seem forced and that’s why we love her style! Do you agree?
