Plus, Kat tells HollywoodLife.com why her latest single ‘Power’ is also her most honest yet!
Few Vampire Diaries characters have been on Death’s door quite as often as Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham), and on the fourth season finale, she finally crossed through to the other side! So what’s to come for the witchy woman in season five? Will she return to the land of the living, or float away forever? And how will she make things work with Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen)? Kat recently told HollywoodLife.com what to expect from the upcoming season — and the next big step in her explosive music career!
‘Vampire Diaries’ Spoilers: Bonnie Faces Her Fate In Season 5
“We’ve had so many conversations about Bonnie dying,” Kat admitted during our chat. “It is what it is. I’ve enjoyed my time on the show, and whether I have one more line or four more years, my work will not change. I’ll continue to give 100 percent.”
That said, don’t count Bonnie out just yet! Kat told me there’s a lot more ‘Beremy’ left to explore, and season five is going to do just that:
It’s great how they’ve evolved the friendship, more so, with Bonnie and Jeremy. I really like where they’re going with it, though I don’t completely know where that is, and I kind of like it that way. It’s cool that, because of the situation with her being on the other side, where the only person she can communicate with is Jeremy, it forces an even more intimate relationship with him. There’s even more of a unity and support.
For now, Kat said, she’s just taking things as they come.
“We’ll see throughout the rest of the season if she’s able to come back to life, or she floats away, or whatever,” she said. “I’m enjoying the ride.”
Kat Graham Shows Her Softer Side With ‘Power’
And while you await season five with baited breath, you can ease your anxieties with a little music — Kat’s music, to be more specific. She’s been releasing bits and pieces of her next big single “Power” during the past few weeks, and she told us the “vulnerable” track exposes a whole new side of her.
“It’s a little bit closer to my life,” she explained. “A lot of people can be self-empowered, but what’s your journey to that? What got you there? Was it someone, or was it something?”
Of course, casting her fiancé Cottrell Guidry in the official lyric video certainly helped give “Power” that personal feel Kat was talking about.
“He was very involved in the process, more so than people realize,” she told me. “Originally, the idea was for me to be by myself, and I was like, ‘It should feel like somebody’s there, even if you don’t see the face and it’s not a full feature. It should still feel like there is a presence there.’ So we played with a few different ideas, and that was our outcome.”
“Power” officially goes on sale July 23, and The Vampire Diaries returns Oct. 10 on The CW.
