“He died doing what he loved,” said Ladd Biro, David’s publicist, in a statement. “His final day was spent selflessly focused on those special children that meant the world to him.”

Based in Texas, David was the host of the high-octane morning radio show Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, which was syndicated to more than 75 radio stations across the country by YEA Networks, according to USA Today. The radio show was even broadcast globally, and David also made nightly appearances on the syndicated TV show Dish Nation.

David has been a staple in the Dallas radio scene since 1984, according to the Dallas Morning News. He debuted as a late-night host before moving to the morning set in 1990. In 2001, David’s show was officially picked up for syndication.

YEA Networks released a statement upon learning about David’s sad death:

All of us with YEA Networks and the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning crew are heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend and leader. Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children.

The cause of David’s sudden death will be released “at the appropriate time,” according to David’s publicist. He would have been 54 on August 22.

David is survived by his ex-wife and his daughter. His death is just so tragic, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
