The ‘Stars Dance’ singer got candid with Ryan Seacrest on July 21, admitting she learned a lot from her relationship with Justin.
Selena Gomez sat down with Ryan Seacrest for an all-new E! special that basically reaffirmed why we adore the “Come & Get It” songstress. She put all of the rumors to rest — including confirming the status of her relationship with Justin Bieber.
Selena On Justin Bieber: It’s ‘Hard To Date In The Industry’
When Selena and Justin began dating in 2011, we thought they were the most adorable couple we’d seen in a long time. However, Selena acknowledged that some Beliebers were so unhappy about the union that they sent her death threats. Talk about harsh!
She admitted to Ryan that it’s "hard to date in the industry," especially when you’re dating someone like Justin. She said she learned a lot from being with him, specifically that she wants to keep her relationships more private in the future.
For all the Jelena fans wondering, Selena told Ryan that she’s single. She’s content with her life right now, but “whatever happens, happens.” Hey now, that’s hope!
Selena On Shedding Her ‘Disney Image’
Most of us remember Selena as the trouble-making Alex Russo on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, though that feels like ages ago, as Selena has since grown into a chart-topping singer and head-lining movie star. But unlike her fellow Disney graduates, Selena’s proud of her squeaky clean start.
"I'm not the one who wants to shed the quote-unquote Disney image," she told Ryan.
Wait, wasn’t that what Spring Breakers was all about? Selena said she needed to exercise her freedom creatively and take on something completely new. Since it was a small, indie film, she didn’t think it would cause as much controversy as it did.
Boy, was she wrong!
Selena On Fame: ‘You May Not See Me In Five Years’
When you’re one of the biggest stars on the planet, it’s easy be into temptation and head down the wrong path — but not Selena!
"You are who you surround yourself with," she told Ryan. She did, however, acknowledge that it’s easy to get caught up in the fame — and even admitted that fame has gotten a grip of her in the past: "It has. I mean, I'm human. I got to snap out of it, though."
From this interview alone, it seems Selena really has her fame under control. Both her acting and music careers are rising, and she appears to be handling the spotlight gracefully.
"I have goals, personally and in my professional career, but whats ‘in’ today may be gone tomorrow — so you may not see me in 5 years," she told Ryan.
Selena out of the spotlight? Never!
