Are you ready to get your doo-wop on at the 50-yard line? You better be — multiple reports claimed on Sept. 7 that the “Locked Out Of Heaven” singer had been picked to be the 2014 Super Bowl Halftime performer!
Bruno Mars has reportedly landed the gig of a lifetime. The old school pop singer will take the stage at Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2, 2014 to perform the biggest halftime show in sports. We did not see this coming!
Bruno Mars: The 2014 Super Bowl Halftime Show
Bruno will take MetLife Stadium in New Jersey by storm for the performance, according to reports by the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press, and Billboard magazine.
The NFL has not yet confirmed the reports.
Since coming onto the scene in 2010 with his hit single “Just The Way You Are,” Bruno has been building a huge following and etching out a space for himself in the pop music landscape. His second album, Unorthodox Jukebox, showed that he’s more of an soul/pop performer, but it also proved that he is a massive talent with banging, catchy songs who isn’t going anywhere.
Supporting Unorthodox Jukebox with his 2013 “Moonshine Jungle” tour has also shown that he has the chops to please the masses with stunning live performances.
Bruno Mars To Perform At The Super Bowl — A Shocking Choice?
But still, going with Bruno is a bit of a shocker. Bruno is definitely a blossoming superstar, but to put him on the same level as past halftime performers like Madonna and Beyonce would be crazy.
And with the Super Bowl taking place just miles outside of New York City, there was speculation that the halftime performer would be a local talent – Bruce Springsteen, New Jersey’s pride and joy, was a heavy favorite in particular.
Instead they went with the boy from Hawaii! What do you think of the choice, HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
