The chilling voicemails Manti received were left by Ronaiah Tuiasosopo’s female cousin Tino, it has been revealed. Tino was posing as ‘Lennay,’ Manti’s fake girlfriend.

The plot thickens in Manti Te’oCatfish-esque hoax story, as hoaxer Ronaiah Tuiasosopo‘s relatives confirmed that it was not Ronaiah who left Manti the disturbing voicemails, but instead it was his female cousin Tino Tuiasosopo. Manti, a Notre Dame football star, was the victim of a hoax, as it turns out the girlfriend that he was in a long-distance relationship was fake. “Lennay Kekua” was invented by Ronaiah, who also provided a voice for her.

Tino Tuiasosopo Is The Voice Of ‘Lennay Kekua’

Three disturbing voicemails were left on Manti’s phone from “Lennay,” and Manti, 21, believed that it was Ronaiah posing as a girl. He told Katie Couric in a tell-all interview on Jan. 24: "It didn't sound like a man. It sounded like a woman. It's incredible that he can make that noise."

Well, it turns out it was not a man! The voice on the answering machine was Ronaiah’s young cousin Tino.

"That's the way [Tino] cries when she's feeling sorry for herself. Its her, that's the voice," a Tuiasosopo source tells the New York Post."Tino is the girl that Manti has been talking to all these months," said a Tuiasosopo cousin.

Tino is in her mid twenties, and lives in Pago Pago, American Samoa. She works for her dad's construction company and is described by relatives as “vivacious and flirtatious”, but she is a regular church goer.

According to the Post, Tino assumed her role in the Manti hoax after she was dumped by her long-distance boyfriend in late 2011. The source says there were "extraordinary similarities" between the two situations. Perhaps that is why Tino decided to get involved in the hoax.

"She said it was OK, because she was doing better,” says the relative. “She said she was talking to another person [and] he plays football for Notre Dame — number 5, Manti."

Tino’s father Bob Tuiasosopo refused to comment on the situation: "I don't want to divulge anything."

Manti Te’o's Voicemails From ‘Lennay Kekua’

The voicemails were left on Manti’s phone by Tino, who posed as Lennay. The first voicemail was supposedly left on Manti’s phone right before “Lennay” began her first round of chemotherapy for her alleged cancer.

She says “Just wanted to call you and keep you posted…I miss you, I love you…bye.” In the second voicemail, “Lennay” is crying and accuses Manti of seeing someone else: ”I don’t know who answered your phone…and I don’t care.”

Someone real, maybe?

The third voicemail was left on Sept. 11 — the day before “Lennay” supposedly died. Lennay says ”Hey babe, I'm just calling to say goodnight. I love you.”

She continues, “I know that you're probably doing homework or you're with the boys, or a girl maybe, just razzing. I just want to say I love you and goodnight and I'll be okay tonight, I'll do my best.  So, yeah, get your rest and I'll talk to you tomorrow.  I love you so much hun, sweet dreams.”

TMZ released the haunting voice mails, which you can listen to here. Warning: it’s so creepy!
