Scrimmaging with CBS’ broadcast of the NFC Championship football game, ABC’s Sunday night dramas got knocked around hard, dropping to new lows.
Once Upon a Time, with 7.7 million total viewers and a 2.4 demo rating, saw declines of 6 and 14 percent week-to-week, hitting a new series low in the demo.
Likewise, Revenge (5.7 mil/1.7) fell 7 and 15 percent, setting a new series low for a second consecutive week.
CBS’ numbers are fantastically preliminary due to the nature of live sporting events (as the old chestnut goes), but highly guesstimatory figures indicate that the Ravens-Patriots game averaged 41.5 million total viewers and a 14.6 rating from 7-10 pm.
Leading out of that, a special Hawaii Five-0 broadcast drew north of 13 mil while netting somewhere around a 4.0 rating, putting it 28 and 95 percent above the most recent Mentalist (if I may compare apples to oranges).
