On April 15, a horrific bombing attack happened at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The attack killed three people, including an 8-year-old boy, and sent 144 people to the hospital with injuries. Boston doctors Dr. Peter Fagenholz and Dr. Allan Panter both spoke with CNN about the injuries they’ve been treating since the explosion.
Dr. Panter was waiting for his wife to finish the race when the first explosion happened about 20 to 25 feet away from him. After the bomb went off, he immediately rushed to treat victims on the street.
“I saw at least six to seven people down next to me,” Dr. Panter told CNN. “They protected me from the blast. One lady expired. One gentleman lost both his (lower) limbs. Most of the injuries were lower extremities. I could not figure out why the young lady had expired. I could not find any injury on her thorax.”
