How’s this for a shakeup? Former ‘Idol’ judge J. Lo is reportedly looking to reprise her role on the Fox show — just one year after quitting the series!
American Idol may be saying goodbye to three of this season’s four judges, but a familiar face to the series is interested in rejoining the panel. Jennifer Lopez, who appeared on the 11th season of the show, left to focus on her film and music career; but after only a season away, she wants her job back!
“Benny [Medina, Jennifer's manager] told Fox that she does indeed want to return,” a source close to the singer tells RadarOnline.com. “They’re talking. Negotiations are in their infant stages, but they’re underway to get her back to the judges’ table.”
Can J. Lo Help The Ratings?
It’s no secret that American Idol has struggled to maintain its viewership. The once-successful talent competition received its lowest ratings during the most recent 12th season, with the finale hitting a series low.
Rumors have been swirling that producers are looking for ex-Idol contestants to fill the voids left by original judge Randy Jackson and newbies Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey after the judges announced their departures from the show. Could Jennifer fill their spots while satisfying the audience?
J. Lo Wants Stability & To Stay In California
A driving force in Jennifer’s desire to rejoin American Idol is apparently her need for stability for her children, 5-year-old twins Max and Emme. With kindergarten approaching, J. Lo is looking to find schools in the Los Angeles area.
The source adds, “Plus, if she’s living in L.A. full-time she will be able to focus on her film career and other ventures, including her fashion business.”
