New sobering images of a badly injured Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at the moment he was finally captured have hit the internet, showing the true face of terror.
In a new, never-before-seen picture of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s capture, the Boston bomber is emerging from his hiding spot, blood covering his face and his raised hand while a sniper laser is aimed directly at his head. It’s a stark, shocking reminder that Dzhokhar is not the rock star that Rolling Stone made him out to be.
Police Photographer Leaks Dramatic Photos Of Boston Bomber
Sergeant Sean Murphy, a tactical photographer with the Massachusetts State Police, released the photo along with several other stunning images to Boston Magazine in response to the Rolling Stone cover, which seemed to glamorize Dzhokhar and detract from the fact that he is charged with killing four people and wounding hundreds more along with his brother at the Boston Marathon on April 15.
Murphy leaked the photos without permission, hoping that they would remind people who Dzhokhar really is. The Sergeant explained his decision to go against orders to Boston Magazine:
The truth is that glamorizing the face of terror is not just insulting to the family members of those killed in the line of duty, it also could be an incentive to those who may be unstable to do something to get their face on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
Sean continued, saying that the photos reinforce that people gave their lives to catch this dangerous man:
I hope that the people who see these images will know that this was real. It was as real as it gets. This may have played out as a television show, but this was not a television show. Officer Dick Donohue almost gave his life. Officer Sean Collier did give his life. These were real people, with real lives, with real families. And to have this cover dropped into Boston was hurtful to their memories and their families. I know from first-hand conversations that this Rolling Stone cover has kept many of them up—again. It's irritated the wounds that will never heal—again. There is nothing glamorous in bringing more pain to a grieving family.
The photos, namely the one above, are truly shocking and definitely serve the purpose that Murphy intended. Dzhokhar is not some handsome, confident young man. He is the Boston bomber.

Murphy has since been suspended and relieved of his duties for leaking the photos, according to Boston Magazine. He will find out next week if he is able to keep his job.
Murphy clearly put his life on the line and did something he truly believed in. He stood up against the Rolling Stone cover, which has been boycotted by stores like Walgreens, CVS, and 7-11 since its release, and though he might lose his job over it, leaking these photos make sure Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will not be glamorized anymore.
