Marc Jacobs, 50, is known for reinvention within his multiple brands. No one ever expects what he comes out with next because every one of his pieces come with a twist. What is Marc up to next? He is branching out…into beauty!
Marc Jacobs’ Makeup — Will Launch Sephora Cosmetic Line
Marc Jacobs told WWD that he was set to launch a mega cosmetic line in North America on August 9 exclusively at Sephora and select Marc Jacob boutique. This will be Sephora’s first global product launch, as it will hit stores internationally later in the year. Marc explains his reasoning behind turning towards makeup for a new line:
“I like the transformative qualities of fashion and fashion to me is not just clothing, it's handbags, it's shoes, it's clothes, it's hair, it's makeup, it's fragrance, it's the whole ritual of making those choices, of enjoying the ritual, of making the choices that will tell the world who you want to be that day.”
Marc says his line will not be boring or lazy. His new beauty line is set to have over 120 products that consist of four categories: Smart Complexion [face], Blacquer [liner], Hi-Per Color [lipstick, nail polish, eyeshadow], and Boy Tested, Girl Approved [unisex]. Marc says he isn’t a fan of natural shades — so expect some bold colors! The line will have a wide variety of products with prices ranging from $24-$59. In his interview with WWD, Marc says:
“The color palette tells a story and that story is based on a spirit. I chose different types of characters, such as an ingénue.”
