Houston Kidnapping — Police Find People Held Captive For 10 Years
Police went to the home at around 8:30 a.m. on July 19 and found that the front door was nailed shut, News 92 FM reports.
Four of the people, who were held captive in a garage, are said to be men between the ages of 50 and 80. The others are women, who police characterized as suffering from mental illness. Sadly, one of the men was allegedly hospitalized.
Police said the men were being held against their will in a trash-infested "prison room" with no beds or chairs inside. (How cruel and disgusting.)
"One of [the men] seemed to think he was picked up off the street and brought here. In exchange for beer and cigarettess and a place to stay, he had to turn over his Social Security check,” Sgt. JW McCoy told ABC.
A suspect was reportedly arrested and is now in police custody. However, no charges have been filed yet.
Houston Kidnapping: Similar To Amanda Berry’s Rescue
We haven’t heard a story this horrific since Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were set free from Ariel Castro’s basement on May 6. They were also held captive for approximately 10 years.
Our thoughts are with those affected at this time. Keep coming back to HollywoodLife.com for all the latest updates.
