Jay-Z, 43, loves his daughter, and he is certainly not afraid to show it. In the teary clip from a commercial for his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail, Jay-Z broke down discussing Blue Ivy Carter, 17 months, her mom, Beyoncé, 31, and how not having a father affected him.
Jay-Z & Beyonce Are So In Love With Their Little Girl
After suffering a miscarriage, the talented duo were thrilled when Beyonce gave birth to the couple’s first child, daughter Blue Ivy, on Jan. 7, 2012. Since her birth, it seems Jay-Z has fallen even more in love with his little girl! Jay spoke to legendary music producer Rick Rubin about the love of his life, his baby girl:
[She's] something that we both created, you know, we still marvel at her.
The Rapper’s Absent Father Plays Role In Raising Blue Ivy
Jay-Z feels even more pressure to be a good dad to Blue because of his own absent father. This need to be a present and loving dad was the inspiration in the singer’s emotional new song “Jay Z Blue.” Of the song off the new album, which will be released on July 9, Jay told Rick:
It deals with, you know, my pop left when I was young, so he didn’t teach me how to be a man nor how to raise a child or treat a woman. So, of course, my karma, the two things I needed I don’t have, right?
