When an armed man arrived at the McNair elementary school in Decatur, Georgia, and began firing shots, a staff member named Antoinette talked him down. Listen to her amazing speech here, which was recorded by a 911 operator.

Michael Brandon Hill, the gunman who entered the Ronald E McNair Discover Learning Academy Elementary School on Aug 20, was miraculously talked down by Antoinette Huff, who told him about her own life troubles in order to stop him. After the entire school to be evacuated after he reportedly fired shots, heroic Antoinette spoke to Michael and you can listen to her amazing speech here.

Antoinette Huff 911 Call — School Shooting Stopped

Antoinette, a bookkeeper at the school, called 911 when Michael, 20, entered the school. She spoke to both the operator and gunman Michael, who fired six shots in the school’s front office before surrendering to police.

Throughout the 25 minute call, Antoinette remained calm and reasoned with Michael to lay down his arms. During the call, she told the operator what Michael, who was armed with an assault rifle and almost 500 rounds of ammunition, was saying.

“He said he don’t care if he dies, he don’t have nothing to live for,” she said. “He said he’s not mentally stable.”

Antoinette then cleverly touched upon personal experience to reason with Michael

“Don’t feel bad, baby. My husband just left me after 33 years…I got a son who’s multiple disabled,” she said.

By the end of the call, when police can be heard storming the office, Antoinette then broke down and admitted how scared she was, despite her apparent bravery.

“I’m going to tell you something, baby. I’ve never been so scared in all the days in my life,” she said to the operator, who replied ”You did great.”
