The Duf-man did it! Two days after breaking the course record at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY, Jason Dufner took home the PGA Championship on August 11.

Though it looked like Jason Dufner might squander the best round of his life after the third day at the PGA Championship, the 36-year-old golfer was able to turn it back on for a masterful final day to take home the Wanamaker Trophy.

Jason Dufner Wins The 2013 PGA Championship

Jason shot a 7-under 63 at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY in the second round of the PGA Championship on August 9, which put him in prime position to win the whole tournament. But after a shaky +1 third round, a win looked to be in doubt.

Jason came into the final day one stroke behind Jim Furyk, but he managed to reassert himself, regain the lead and never relinquish it. The man from Cleveland, Ohio shot three under par over the first nine holes, and played surely and steady after that to make sure he didn’t give up the lead again.

With a multi-shot lead on the 18th hole, Jason putted in for bogey to finish with a winning score of -10. It is Jason’s first major win in his career, and even he, usually so stoic, couldn’t control his emotions as the crowd celebrated his win.

Jason Dufner Makes History

You could say Jason was fated to win the last major of the 2013 golf season after the miracle round he pulled off on August 9. Dufner completely destroyed the usually difficult golf course, breaking Oak Hill’s course record of 64 (which was previously held by golf icons Curtis Strange and Ben Hogan) by one stroke.

He even came within one putt of becoming the first player in golf history to shoot a 62 in a major tournament.

After a day like that, it would have been a shame to see him give up the tournament, so we have to tip our caps to him for being able to hold on.
