Guy Pelly: Prince George’s First Chosen Godparent?
One of Prince William’s best friends, Guy Pelly! Guy, who is a nightclub owner in London, was asked by William to take the role of godparent when Prince George is christened, according to The Sun.
Not surprisingly, Guy, 31, is “thrilled to bits” and has been celebrating the honor, a source said.
But if Kate and William did choose Guy as one of George’s godparents, it may draw some criticism. Guy is a bit of a controversial figure in London, after being exposed for smoking marijuana at a party William also attended, and getting charged for drunk driving in 2012 after reportedly going 129 miles per hour on a local street. Many may cry out that Guy is not the right role model for the royal child.
Then again, Kate and William have not done anything by the book when it comes to having and raising their child, and so far it appears to be working for them.
Kate Middleton & Prince William: Who Else Will They Choose As Godparents?
One down, five to go! So who will Prince George’s other godparents be? Prince Charles‘ cousin India Hicks recently explained to People that the royal family chooses “godparents for various reasons,” so predicting who Kate and William will pick isn’t exactly easy.
That being said, William is reportedly considering other good friends like Thomas Van Straubenzee, as well as his former private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton.
Kate meanwhile is also considering close friends, and her sister, Pippa Middleton is reportedly in the running too, according to The Sun.
However, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said on Aug. 30 that it is “too early to discuss who will be godparents,” so we might still have a while to wait before we find out who gets picked!
