Robin says for the first time every in a brand new interview exactly what she went through. She says she couldn’t eat, drink or get out of the bed.

Robin Roberts wants her fans to know exactly what she went through and is still experiencing. The Good Morning America host underwent a bone marrow transplant for a rare blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome.

Robin Speaks Out In Emotional Interview

Robin, 52, says that right after her bone marrow transplant in September, she: “felt like I was dying.”

She went on to say: “I couldn’t eat or drink. I couldn't even get out of bed. I was in a coma-like state. I truly felt I was slipping away … then I kept hearing my name.”

But Robin says that she’s on the road to recovery: “it’s an amazing feeling, each day feeling stronger.”

Robin Is Headed Back To ‘GMA’

Robin appeared remotely on the Jan. 14 installment of GMA from her NYC home and she said that she would be back on the show!

“I'm so happy to be sharing this news with everybody — I met with my doctors last week,” she says. “My blood count continues to improve. My beloved sister, Sally-Ann, my donor. Her cells continue to make themselves at home in my body. The big news is that my last bone marrow aspiration — by the way, ouch, I've lost count how many I've had — but the last bone marrow test showed no abnormalities! What all of this means is my doctors were waiting for this information to tell me I can being the process of returning to the anchor chair. I'm coming home.”

Robin will talk more in-depth in a special edition of 20/20 that is set to air Feb. 22.
