Pilot News: Closer Alum J.K. Simmons to Play Dad in NBC Comedy Feb 14th 2013, 00:26 The Closer‘s J.K. The single-camera sitcom centers on a son who idolizes his blind father — played by Simmons — and enjoys his mom's newfound adolescence after his folks divorce… and ultimately grow closer. Posey plays the mom. The project comes from exec producers Nash (Bent), Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) and Jim Garavente (Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium). Simmons’ casting is in second position to the upcoming ABC comedy Family Tools, which premieres May 1.
