Ashley Benson: Selena Gomez Was 'Excited' For 'Spring Breakers' Role Mar 6th 2013, 19:53 Ashley told us the other girls ‘took care of’ Selena on set and helped her step out of her comfort zone for the racy new role. For Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez, filming Spring Breakers definitely required the stars to shed their teen images and step out of their comfort zone — and there’s no denying the fact that is was the biggest departure for the youngest cast member, Selena! The 20-year-old broke onto the scene in a slew of Disney specials, but her latest role gave her the chance to really prove herself as a mature actress — even if the film content was very racy! Her co-star, 25-year-old Ashley Benson, said that Selena handled the racy content with ease — and the girls helped her along every step of the way! “I think she was excited,” Ashley said. “You know, it was such a step up from everything that we’ve done, and you don’t really get a script like this often. Harmony [Korine] is such a unique director, he’s amazing. There was no telling us no, we were so excited and the movie’s amazing,” Ashley said, gushing about her latest project with the infamous Kids writer at the Faviana showroom in NYC. The star fronts the brand’s spring campaign, where she shows off a slew of pretty dresses. Ashley and Selena were friends before they started filming, and Ashley said the close-knit bond between the girls really made the project even more special. “It was awesome, she’s like my little sister and we all kind of took care of her,” she said. “It was really nice working with them everyday. It made it easier and you can really tell on-screen that we have a good relationship. We get along so well, we’ve become like sisters.” While the girls embraced the racy new project, Ashley did admit that the material was a total departure. “As far as the scarier and the sexier scenes go, it was a challenge but it was fun,” she said. Ashley also discussed the threesome her character has in the movie and told us all about what it was like touring with the girls and promoting their upcoming flick.
