Mindy’s friends and peers in the music industry came together in Nashville on Mar. 6 to celebrate the life of the friend they lost too soon. So sad.
Mindy McCready‘s family laid the troubled country singer to rest in her hometown of Fort Myers, FL on Feb. 26, but her music industry peers wanted an opportunity of their own to pay their respects to the friend they’ve lost. On Mar. 6, they gathered at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, TN to celebrate Mindy’s life through music.
At the memorial, open to Mindy’s family, close friends and peers in the industry, the country singer’s friends Bekka Bramlett, Lorrie Morgan and Bryan White were scheduled to perform.
Mindy McCready’s Florida Funeral
While the memorial for the late singer was closed to those who knew her personally, her hometown funeral at the Cross Roads Baptist Church was open to fans. In a statement released to USA Today, Mindy’s mother Gayle Ingle said, “Mindy’s life was public and the family welcomes friends and fans to join them in a celebration of Mindy’s life.”
Attendees began gathering at the church at 2:00pm. As they filed in, a large screen that had been erected in the church showed pictures of Mindy in happier times, while country music played in the background, reports NewsPress.com.
During the funeral, Gayle said some touching words about her daughter, and how Mindy will always be her "little girl in a car-seat singing into a hairbrush." She added that she has been healed in Heaven after a "painful struggle."
"I cannot imagine how we go on from here." Gayle said, as Mindy's song "Ten Thousand Angels" played.
Mindy’s Friends Not Surprised By Her Death
Mindy passed away on Feb. 17 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. As HollywoodLife.com previously exclusively reported, friends of the singer were, sadly, not too surprised by the news of her passing. "She has had substance problems for so long and tragedy followed her through the years that we were unfortunately waiting to hear that she passed away through an accidental overdose or something even worse, which is exactly what happened," one friend told us. "You can expect it in ways, but its still devastating when now it actually happened."
Our thoughts remain with Mindy’s family and friends, especially her two young sons, during their time of mourning.
