Frank got no love from his fellow nominees as he took home a Grammy on Feb. 10, 2013. As the entire Staples Center stood to clap for the winner, Miguel stayed in his seat. Talk about rude!
Miguel was kind of a sore loser at the 55th annual Grammy Awards. After Frank Ocean won Best Urban Contemporary Album, Miguel was not very happy. Along with fellow loser, Chris Brown, Miguel remained seated and refused to cheer in honor of the winner. Even better, Miguel doesn’t regret a thing about his disrespectful behavior. According to him, he was the rightful recipient of the award!
Miguel Refuses to Applaud Frank Ocean At The Grammys
Miguel told TMZ on Mar. 13, “I’m competitive, but congratulations to Frank though.” When asked if he could go back in time and give the singer a standing ovation, he replied that he still wouldn’t. Ouch.
The singer wasn’t at a total loss, though. Miguel won a Grammy for best R&B song for his track, “Adorn.”
Miguel’s Success In 2013
While he may be a poor audience member, Miguel has achieved some incredible success over the past year. He released his sophomore album, Kaleidoscope Dream, in September 2012, which debuted at number three! The album also made it onto New York magazine’s Top 10 album list of 2012.
The “Adorn” singer is also scheduled to perform on SNL for the first time. The NBC Show’s twitter announced, “Excited to say #VinceVaughn is returning to host #SNL with first-time musical guest, @MiguelUnlimited on April 13th!!” Expectations appear to be high after his Grammy win! He’s also currently touring with Alicia Keys.
Even though he was beat out by Frank, Miguel has plenty of wins to celebrate. What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Should Miguel have given Frank a standing ovation?
