‘Glee’ fans and co-stars of Cory’s were shocked when he announced he had checked into rehab on March 31. Now reports say that Lea had everything to do with his decision!
Cory Monteith‘s decision to go to rehab wasn’t soley his own. The 30-year-old actor was reportedly getting support from his girlfriend Lea Michele to enter into the facility.
How Lea Michele Encouraged Cory To Go To Rehab
It turns out Lea, 26, was the one who was reportedly “worried” about her boyfriend and suggested he get help for his substance addictions.
“She’s very much the engine in the relationship,” the source tells InTouch. “She’s been worried about him for a long time. She was the one who suggested he try rehab to get a handle on things.”
We told you that she released a statement at the time of Cory’s rehab announcement saying:
“I love and support Cory and will stand by him.”I am grateful and proud he made this decision.”
Cory also made a statement: “Cory Monteith has voluntarily admitted himself into a treatment facility for substance addiction," the rep said. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
People also reports that Le has been influencing him in a positive way, and wanted him to stop hanging out with his more “hard-partying pals.”
Cory’s Co-Stars Support His Decision
Several members of the cast tweeted about Cory heading to rehab.
Ryan Murphy tweeted: “I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100%.”
Kevin McHale tweeted: “Love u @CoryMonteith, so proud of you :).”
Harry Shum Jr. tweeted: “Supporting @CoryMonteith for his courageous decision. Get well soon my friend! Proud of you!”
