Jimmy has sealed the deal to move from ‘The Late Show’ to ‘The Tonight Show’, according to a new report. But when will he make his big move?
It sounds like Jimmy Fallon will be taking over Jay Leno‘s 11:35 p.m. Tonight Show time slot after all, as a new report from The Hollywood Reporter reveals the deal is as good as done! Jimmy has reportedly closed a deal with NBC to take over late-night hosting duties. Read on for all the details, and to watch the hilarious video of Jay and Jimmy singing.
Jimmy Fallon Signs Deal To Take Over ‘The Tonight Show’
Jimmy, 38, has reportedly signed with NBC to take over from Jay, 62.
Furthermore, NBC execs want to launch Jimmy’s New York-based Tonight in Feb. 2014 during network’s high-rated Winter Olympics coverage, but producer Lorne Michaels wants to give Jimmy more time. Plus, NBC would then have to give Jay a penalty because his contract does not expire until Sept. 2014.
Guess NBC got over its fear of losing Jay!
NBC Is Scared To Lose Jay Leno
"Talk has been made of a change from Jay to Jimmy, but not as serious as it's been believed and hyped in the media because NBC is scared if they do it, they think that Jay would go elsewhere,” a source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “So the announcement of a change is not imminent and they are more prone on signing Jay to another contract.”
Jay, who is signed with NBC through 2014, may keep his job because, as another source told HollywoodLife.com, he has other outlets if a change occurs. We were told, "Jay Leno would be pursued immediately if he left NBC and a contract would be given to him from FOX. All he would have to do is say 'Yes' because Fox would be extremely interested."
