Kate Middleton, 31, is due with her first child any day. And while the world is so excited for her to give birth, her nine months of pregnancy hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park. Similarly, Kim Kardashian, 32, gave birth to her first child North West on June 15 after a tough pregnancy.
Kate Middleton & Kim Kardashian Both Have Pregnancy Medical Scares
Both Kate and Kim were plagued by frightening pregnancy complications. Kate and her husband Prince William were forced to announce their pregnancy a few weeks early after the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to King Edward VII hospital for complications she was experiencing from hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition characterized as severe morning sickness.
Although Kate ended up leaving the hospital a few days later and recovered well at home, the scary illness can include persistent vomiting, dehydration and a constant state of nausea.
Kim K has admitted that almost all of her pregnancy was “painful,” and she was taken to the hospital a few times for several instances of pregnancy complications. One of the scariest moments, which was documented on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim was rushed to the hospital right after she landed back in Los Angeles after taking a flight from Paris. Although she ended up being OK, the anxiety and pain she was experienced really had her and her doctor worried for her baby’s health
Kate Middleton & Kim Kardashian’s Backlash For Pregnancy Weight
The two women were also brutally criticized for their weight all throughout their pregnancy. Kim was constantly called fat and picked on in the tabloids for gaining too much weight throughout her pregnancy. Some reports speculated she gained a whopping 65 pounds while pregnant, which Kim denied.
Kate, on the other hand, was more picked on for not gaining enough weight! People accused her of trying too hard to stay skinny while pregnant, and not putting on enough weight. However, those reports were dispelled when she finally showed off her giant baby bump at around seven months pregnant.
Kate and Kim also both spent much of their pregnancies without their partners — Kim’s boyfriend Kanye West was in Paris recording an album, while Prince William was gone for his job as an RAF pilot — and they both are awaiting multimillion-dollar renovations on their homes.
