Jimmy Fallon presented Justin Timberlake with the Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25, making JT the 28th recipient of the prestigious award.

Justin Timberlake Wins Michael Jackson Vanguard Award — Performs Medley Of Hits

Justin made his entrance while singing his new track “Take Back The Night.” Once on stage, The President of Pop dove into a medley of his hits including “SexyBack,” “Like I Love You,” “My Love,” and “Cry Me A River,” followed by a not-so-surprising performance of “Girlfriend” and “Bye Bye Bye” by ‘NSYNC!

The Video Vanguard Award, also known as the Lifetime Achievement Award, is given to musicians who have made a profound effect on the MTV culture — something Justin has done ten times over. In 1991, the award was renamed as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

This year, Justin, 32, was honored for his two decades of innovation in videos including “Cry Me a River,” “SexyBack” and ”Mirrors.”

Justin Timberlake Dedicates His Award To ‘NSYNC

After receiving the award, Justin said, “I don’t deserve this award, but I’m not going to give it back. I’m taking this home. Every video director that I’ve had the fortune of working with, I owe this award to you.”

“Half of the moon men that I’ve ever won, I won with those four men right there [he points to 'NSYNC]. So above all else — we can keep it at my house — but I’m going to share this award with them. This is truly an honor. Thank you so much,” Justin continued.

As a solo artist and member of ‘NSYNC, Justin has taken home 14 VMAs, which puts him second only to Madonna in total wins.

Ironically, Britney Spears, Justin’s most famous ex, was the last artist to receive the award in 2011. Other winners include the Beastie Boys, Madonna and Janet Jackson.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Did Justin deserve the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award?
