Browse our gallery of the wildest ‘Pretty Little Liars’ surprises & vote for the one that shocked you the most!
It’s hard to believe Pretty Little Liars‘ fourth season is only halfway over, considering how many times the fandom’s collective mind has been blown. From the first surprise of the season (Dead-tective Wilden, anyone?) to the epic summer finale twist (Ezra, how could you?!) HollywoodLife.com is counting down the 10 moments that truly rocked our Tuesday nights this summer.
‘Pretty Little Liars’: Craziest Season 4 Moments
1. Detective Wilden is killed!
Rosewood’s hottest law enforcer (Bryce Johnson) made the girls’ lives hell when he was alive, but things got even worse after he was killed. At least it was a lovely funeral — and I’m not just talking about the corpse.
2. Melissa is the Queen of Hearts!
Not content with only having one alias — don’t forget, she’s also the “Black Swan” — Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) was revealed to be the Queen of Hearts on the show’s summer premiere. Or she was one of the Queens of Hearts. It’s hard to keep track.
3. ‘A’ crashes into Emily’s living room!
When Emily’s (Shay Mitchell) mom considered redecorating the house, this is so not what she had in mind. The July 23 episode ended with “A” crashing straight into the Fields’ living room, leaving them both homeless. Also couch-less, but mostly homeless.
4. Mona confesses to Wilden’s murder!
Of all the crazy things Mona (Janel Parrish) has done during the past three seasons, confessing to a murder she didn’t commit has got to be the craziest. At the very least, you’ve got to respect the girl’s dedication to her craft — and by “craft,” I mean being completely insane.
5. Aria kisses Jake!
Though she wasn’t sure about her feelings for Jake (Ryan Guzman) at first, Aria (Lucy Hale) eventually made up her mind — and sealed the decision with a kiss!
6. Ezra’s not Malcolm’s father!
Ezra Fitz (Ian Harding) may be a lot of things — including “A” — but a DILF, he is not. ‘Ezria’ fans breathed a massive sigh of relief when Maggie told her ex-boyfriend he’s not the father of her son; if only they knew what else was about to be revealed…
7. Wren prescribes bad medicine!
Don’t be fooled by that charming British accent; Wren (Julian Morris) is a bad dude. He ratted out the Hastings family, getting Spencer’s (Troian Bellisario) mom thrown off Ashley’s (Laura Leighton) case!
8. CeCe is (the other) red coat!
It’s official: Hanna (Ashley Benson) is the only trustworthy blonde left in Rosewood. CeCe (Vanessa Ray) seemed like just another one of “A”s victims — until the Aug. 21 episode revealed her to be one of the Red Coats. At least red is totally her color.
9. Alison is alive!
We’ve pretty much been operating under the assumption that Alison (Sasha Pieterse) is still alive ever since we saw her pull the girls out of the fire on the third season finale, but it wasn’t until the Aug. 27 episode that we had concrete confirmation of her alive-ness. Now, one question remains: Where is she? And when will we see her again? (Sorry, I guess two questions remain.)
10. Ezra is ‘A’!
We all know Ezra probably looks great in a pair of board shorts, but we never expected him to actually be “Board Shorts!” The final moments of the summer finale revealed Aria’s ex-boyfriend to be the show’s ultimate villain. Ian spoke with HollywoodLife.com about the big twist, adding that he’s “super excited” to start playing the bad guy.
