Fans were ecstatic to have football back in their lives as the season kicked off on Sept. 5, but there was one guy they were NOT happy to see. Maybe Ryan should stick to singing contests?
Are you ready for some football!? America’s favorite sport returned on Sept. 5 when the Denver Broncos hosted the Baltimore Ravens. You don’t need to do much to make football good television — just a bunch of crazy athletic guys going head-to-head in HD usually does the trick — but NBC’s Football Night in America may have done just that by inviting Ryan Seacrest to the festivities.
Ryan Seacrest’s Countdown To NFL Season
Ryan joined the macho Football Night in America crew for the pre-game show to promote his upcoming NBC game show, The Million Second Quiz. Forced promotion never really goes over well though, and after an awkward, out-of-place interview with Bob Costas, Ryan then took the field in Denver, Co. to do a final countdown to the opening of the season.
This didn’t seem all that cute to the fans of Denver, who rained boos on him like he was Ray Lewis’ more hated cousin. After his little countdown, a thunderstorm broke out in Denver that delayed kickoff for another 33 minutes. This cannot be a coincidence.

And if you thought the hatred for Ryan was bad at the stadium, you know it was worse on Twitter. The American Idol host clearly does not mix well with football.
@TheThomason tweeted, “Lightning delay at NFL opener because Ryan Seacrest introduced the game and God is trying to kill him with lightning.”
“Still, why was Ryan Seacrest around football anyway,” @xTheSurgeonx asked, while @flarkle decided to take the sarcasm route: “Thanks, NBC, I was just saying to myself that Ryan Seacrest needs to be on TV more.”
And @jojomorningshow was just feeling bluntly upset: “Ryan Seacrest ruins everything.”
