NBC’s Hatfields & McCoys pilot — a modern-day continuation of the legendary family feud — has cast Virginia Madsen (Sideways) as matriarch Eloise McCoy.
Set in present-day Pittsburgh, the prospective series will use a shocking death to once again pit the families against one another. Can the blue-collar McCoys usurp the Hatfields' wealth and power as they each wrest for control of the city?

Nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her turn in the 2004 film Sideways, Madsen’s most recent TV credits include Hell on Wheels, The Event and the ABC summer sudser Scoundrels.
John Glenn (Eagle Eye), Charlize Theron, AJ Dix (The Butterfly Effect), Dawn Olmstead (Prison Break), Beau Flynn serve as executive producers on Hatfields & McCoys.
NBC’s other drama pilots for the season include a Blair Underwood-fronted Ironside remake, the Kill Bill-esque Bloodline and Carlton Cuse’s The Sixth Gun.
