Bon Jovi and Phillip Phillips performed but a shocking elimination left Nicki pouting on the March 14 episode of ‘American Idol’ — do YOU agree with the results?
Judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson have little influence on the results from this point on. Instead, it’s up to America and 26 million votes later, Nicki threatened to leave the show after one of her favorites ended up in the bottom! Keep reading for the full recap.
In the beginning of the episode, Producer Jimmy Iovine commented on the performances from March 13. He loved Janelle, and said Kree and Amber were in his top three. He said Burnell was the best of the boys, but that overall the guys are majorly lacking in comparison to the girls.
The Top Three Are Revealed
Devin got the most amount of votes in Puerto Rico — 25%. Janelle won over her home state of Tennessee, while Candice crushed South Carolina, with 42% of the vote from her home state!
Kree got a key to the city of her hometown, Woodville, TX.
The top three were revealed in no particular order — Candice, Kree and Angie.
Much like The X Factor, this season, the results are ranked:
Fourth place – Lazaro
Fifth place — Amber
Sixth place — Janelle
Seventh place — Burnell
Eighth place — Paul
Ninth place — Devin
In the end, Curtis was forced to sing for survival and for the judges one save of the season.
“I’m completely shocked,” Mariah said. Randy had to deliver the news that Curtis would be going home. Nicki was so mad and was just giving the stink eye to the other judges who didn’t vote to keep him in the show. She said, “If Curtis leaves, I leave.” Candice and Kree were in tears during Curtis’ emotional last performance.

Bon Jovi performed their most recent single “Because We Can” to a standing ovation!
Phillip Phillips came “home” to the American Idol stage to sing his new single “Gone, Gone, Gone.” He was presented with a quadruple platinum award from Randy for selling 4 million singles of his hit song “Home!” Congrats Phillip!
A 11th Spot On The Tour Is Revealed
The top girl and guy who just missed the cut for the top 10 performed to try to win the 11th spot on the American Idol tour. Charlie Askew sang first and was followed by Aubrey Cleland. Is this even a question?! We’ll find out next Wednesday who makes the tour.
Are you surprised by the results, HollywoodLifers?
