The troubled teen rapper is free! After serving 60 days in juvenile detention, the young MC has a second chance on his hands! He was released from the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles on March 14.

Chief Keef  hasn’t even reached legal adulthood and he’s had more legal troubles than most adults. Yikes! The young rapper’s finally been released from his 60-day sentence in juvenile detention, though, so hopefully he can begin to put his life on the right track!

Chief Keef’s Legal Issues Leading To His Sentence

The young MC has quite a record for only being 17. In January 2011, he served house arrest under charges of Heroin manufacture and distribution. In December of that year he was arrested yet again for three counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. Oh boy! On Jan. 15, 2013, he was sentenced to 60 days juvenile detention for violating his probation for pointing a gun at Chicago police officers.

As if his legal problems weren’t enough to deal with, by the time he was 16 he fathered his first child.

Chief Keef Is Released From Juvie

The rapper made it through! Now what will he do with his freedom? It looks like he’s ready to make a big change, and for the better! During his stint in juvie, Chief Keef made plans for his own baptism upon his release. Will he go through with it? Chicago’s “Rooftop Pastor” Reverand Corey Brooks visited the teen during his sentence, and plans to baptize him as soon as he returns home. The baptism is expected to take place at Reverand Brooks’ New Beginnings Church in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood.

In addition to planning his spiritual recovery, he also spent his time in juvenile detention trying to revive his rap career. During his sentence, he advertised “Free Sosa” T-shirts through his Twitter which were a HUGE success and also announced his next concert date to be March 23 at the Indiana Geneses Center.

While he appears to be turning over a new leaf, Chief Keef still has consequences to face. He must deal with a child support case for the baby he fathered back in 2011.
