While ‘The Voice’ may be searching for an amazing singer, one judge may have just found his future… daughter?
Yes, you read that right. We’re used to judges pulling every trick they can to get contestants to choose them on The Voice, but on Tuesday, April 2, Blake Shelton basically offered to adopt 17-year-old Savannah Berry.
Blake Shelton Tells Country Star He’ll Adopt Her
I wonder how Miranda Lambert feels about that!
It was no surprise that Blake, Adam Levine and Shakira all turned their chairs after Savannah took the stage and sang “Safe and Sound.” After all, she has already performed with Sugarland!
After she admitted that Miranda was one of her musical influences, Adam rolled his eyes, knowing it was all over.
Shakira fought back by saying that Blake and Adam were ”jaded” and “almost deaf.”
While it was absolutely hilarious, Blake used what he knows best — his wife. He took off his wedding ring to show her, and said “I’m actually married to Miranda Lambert.”
He later added that he just recently was having dinner with his wife and Jennifer Nettles, the lead singer of Sugarland who just had a baby.
“Miranda and I were talking about, maybe we should adopt,” Blake said. “And it’s interesting that now you’re here and it’s almost like your family to me, and you’re 17, a very adoptable age.”
Meanwhile, backstage her dad let Blake know: “you can’t have her!” Adam also chimed in, letting Blake know that “she doesn’t need parenting, she needs coaching!”
Sorry Adam – seems like Blake’s method worked! Savannah is now part of Team Blake!
Usher Finds His ‘Diamond In The Rough’
However, Blake wasn’t the only one to find a talented singer. There were many great performances of the night, and for Usher, he was a big fan of 24-year-old Orlando Dixon.
When Orlando took the stage with Neo‘s “So Sick,” we all knew that Usher just had to turn. Even though he waited until the very last second, it was so great to see Usher finally snag a great R&B artist.
“I grew up listening to you, I admire your work, I just want to learn so much from you,” Orlando told Usher. “You’re just my idol.”
“I’m happy that I hit the buzzer last minute,” Usher responded. “I turned because I really did feel like you had a great tone,” Usher responded. “I’m gonna push you though!”
Usher later told the cameras that he thinks Orlando is “a diamond in the rough.”
Aww!
