After a months-long trial, Bradley was acquitted of the most serious charge he faced — aiding the enemy. Read on to find out how stars felt about the verdict.

After Bradley Manning, the 25-year-old Army private who sent thousands of classified U.S. military documents to WikiLeaks, was acquitted of aiding the enemy on July 30, celebrities took to Twitter to voice their mixed feelings about the verdict.

Although Bradley was acquitted of the most serious charge brought against him, he was convicted of six espionage counts, five theft charges, a computer fraud charge and other military infractions. His fate was decided by a judge, and many celebrities took to Twitter to voice their disapproval over the verdict.

Rosie O’Donnell tweeted, “Bradley Manning’s treatment was cruel and inhuman, UN torture chief rules http://gu.com/p/365ac/tw via @guardian THIS IS AMERICA?”

John Cusack tweeted, ”Fr all you assholes quick to “hang ” snowden &manning u should try expressing deep gratitude to patriots.”

Ronan Farrow tweeted, ”Bradley Manning is no hero. He caused damage. But an aiding the enemy charge should never be applied to leaks to reporting groups.” His mother, Mia Farrow, also tweeted about the verdict, simply saying, ”Manning NOT guilty of aiding enemy.”

Singer Moby tweeted before the verdict was announced, “Here’s hoping…Judge to announce verdict in Bradley Manning case @washingtonpost http://wapo.st/18KIPX2  #freebradleymanning #bradleymanning.”

After Bradley leaked the confidential reports and was arrested, a Bradley Manning Support Network Project was created online, and several celebrities backed the cause. Russell Brand, Maggie Gyllenhaal and filmmaker Oliver Stone all advocated for the whistleblower to get a fair trial in a video titled “I Am Bradley Manning.”
