Rather than attempting to find the next great recording artist — because, honestly, how many singing competition winners actually make it? — the show merely rewards singers for their talent by handing them boatloads of cash! In this preview clip from the Aug. 1 episode, obtained exclusively by HollywoodLife.com, two bodacious belters go head-to-head for a cool $10,000. But who’s the winner?
Vanessa Echevarria is up first with a killer rendition of Heart‘s “Alone,” and while it might be the most cliché selection in music-competition history, Vanessa certainly blows it out of the water. She’s followed by Annie McQueen, who puts her own spin on Aretha Franklin‘s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” and although it’s unclear whether the voters prefer her performance to Vanessa’s, the results are pretty darn close.
