Kate, you proved that a post-pregnant body is beautiful when you stepped out of St. Mary’s Hospital on July 23 with your adorable bundle of joy. You empowered moms everywhere when you showed off your post-baby bump to the world!
Kate Middleton, you just revolutionized the idea of celebrity post-baby bodies when you bravely stepped out in front of the world on July 23, just one day after giving birth to your first son Prince George. Your gorgeous baby blue polka dot dress clung to your belly, and you demonstrated that you were far more interested in being a doting mom to your baby boy than hiding your beautiful pregnancy curves!
Kate Middleton Your Post-Baby Bump Is Empowering
Even though you had the help of a hairdresser to make you look absolutely gorgeous the first time you stepped out from the hospital after welcoming your baby, just a day after giving birth to the future King of England, you also didn’t make any attempt with your choice of clothing to camouflage your natural new mommy bump. Every woman who has given birth knows that their bump which took nine months to grow doesn’t just magically disappear overnight. In fact, it’s still almost as big as it was before delivering your precious new son or daughter.
The problem is that pregnant celebrities who’ve done such a great job of embracing their growing bumps, before delivery, usually hideout afterwards until they’ve eliminated any evidence of pregnancy in record time! That means we’re not used to seeing a female public figure emerge a day after childbirth, still sporting what’s totally normal and natural- the post baby bump!
It’s kind of ironic that pregnant celebrities have become comfortable with the beauty of their bumps, even proudly displaying their naked bellies on the cover of magazines, or on the beach in small bikinis. Yet it seems that celebrities have also gotten into stiff competition to lose their baby weight as fast as possible. Many A-list moms — possibly, including Bethenny Frankel– don’t want be photographed or seen in public until they have lost every ounce of baby weight, and feel like they have returned back to pre-baby shape.
Kate, it’s a relief to millions and millions of non-celeb moms to see you so completely comfortable with your still- bumpy figure. You proved that you are more concerned with being a doting mom to your new son and proudly showing him off to the world than concealing your post-baby body. Not only did you step out of St. Mary’s hospital to a waiting crowd of fans and press — who shared the images all over the world — you glowed with genuine happiness as you held on to your baby boy, and let your pretty polka dot dress blow in the wind against your bump.
Kate Middleton: You Shouldn’t Be In A Hurry To Shed All The Weight
Kate- that was so refreshing because, let’s be honest, it’s really not normal for most women to be bikini -ready just a months after giving birth. A-list new moms now routinely show up and are photographed at events with completely flat stomachs, slim legs and toned derrieres. Claire Danes arrived at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards with a perfect body less than a month after giving birth to her son! Model Adriana Lima strutted the runway for the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show just eight weeks after giving birth — and she wore skimpy lingerie and swimsuits! That’s totally not normal.
These impossible standards make regular moms feel bad about not being able to live up to those standards, and insecure about their post-baby bodies., even though it’s normal to gradually lose your baby weight and not regain your pre-baby figure for several months. After all, most women don’t have personal trainers with whom they are able to work out for hours a day, personal chefs preparing all of their healthy calorie-lite meals and around-the-clock nannies and baby nurses who can care for their little ones while they work out. No wonder celebrities look amazing when they re-appear in public.
Kate, you have shown that enjoying your new family is more important than immediately worrying about getting back in shape. You have spent the last three days bonding with your newborn baby , beginning in the hospital with hubby Prince William, where you both made the totally relateable decision to order pizza and eat together in the maternity suite!
Keep showing off your beautiful post-baby body. Even though you are a naturally slim woman — and will no doubt be back in perfect shape in no time — we love that you are showing off your post-baby belly. You’re not afraid to show women that both pregnant and post-pregnant bodies are beautiful!
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Is Kate showing off her post-baby belly empowering?
