While A-Rod faces a massive suspension (and even a possible lifetime ban!) for using performance enhancing drugs and allegedly attempting to sabotage Major League Baseball’s investigation on him, baseball-happy stars took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the former All-Star.
It’s safe to say that it’s been a tough week for Alex Rodriguez. His performance-enhancing drugs scandal is finally coming to a head, and on July 31 news broke that Major League Baseball was prepared to suspend A-Rod for life! So as the best-paid player in baseball (who many feel is ruining the sport itself) awaits his sentence — and possibly makes a deal for a lesser punishment — sports fanatic celebrities hopped on Twitter to talk A-Rod, and even take a few shots at him!
Donald Trump, John Stamos & More Tweet About A-Rod’s Lifetime Ban
Donald Trump is especially angry (as Donald Trump tends to be). The reality TV mogul tweeted, “Druggie @AROD is now scheming to sue the @Yankees. He will go down as the biggest sports embarrassment of all time.” Donald later tweeted, “It is a great victory for NYC that A-Rod will never wear pinstripes again.”
John Stamos used the sports scandal to humorously promote his own sports-themed show, Necessary Roughness: “just a guess— A-ROD won’t enjoy the rest of the #necessaryROUGHness season.” We love you, John.
And iconic director Albert Brooks of all people decided to weigh in with some pretty fierce words. The Blazing Saddles director tweeted, “Here’s hoping Alex Rodriguez is healthy for his lifetime ban.”
Alex Rodriguez Scandal: Sports Figures React On Twitter
And a couple famous figures in the sports world had some things to say. Dick Vitale tweeted about how far A-Rod has fallen: “My wife & I met this 20 yr old star @Espys named Alex of Seattle-he was a Can’t miss STAR -so innocent & talented-ruined it all-Y-@AROD SAD.”
And controversial host Jim Rome posted about how New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman must feel about his scandalous star: “Brian Cashman must want to fight Alex Rodriguez,” he tweeted.
We’re sure Brian isn’t the only one. A-Rod would be the first player in baseball to receive a lifetime ban since Pete Rose in 1989, so we can only imagine how Twitter will blow up if this all actually goes down.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Do YOU have some choice words for Alex? Let us know!
