Cory’s mom, Ann McGregor, has stayed silent while grieving the death of her beloved son, but she took to Twitter to let his fans know how much of an impact they’ve made on her healing process.

Cory Monteith‘s friends, family and fans were all devastated after he was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13 from a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol, but it must have been especially painful for Cory’s mom, Ann McGregor, as there is nothing so tragic as a mother losing her child. Now Ann is speaking out in a heartfelt message to all of Cory’s supporters. Read on for more details.

Cory Monteith’s Mom Tweets After Death Of Son — Speaks Out About ‘Emotional Time’

Now that Ann has had time to grieve, she’s finally ready to talk about Cory’s death.

“I would like to thank all of Cory’s supporters at this extremely emotional time,” she tweeted on August 2. “Your support has been overwhelming … thank you!”

We can’t imagine what Ann must be going through, but it is nice to know that she feels comforted by Cory’s friends, castmates and fans during this difficult time.

Cory, 31, struggled with addiction from a very young age, and Ann, 62, finally staged an intervention with his friends when he was 19.

In an interview with Parade magazine in 2011, Cory revealed that he was very troubled during his teen years, stealing money to support his drug habit. "I was out of control," Cory said. "[I used] anything and everything, as much as possible. I had a serious problem."

"That's when I first went to rehab," he said, though he also admitted that his sobriety didn't last long the first time: "I did the stint but then went back to doing exactly what I left off doing."

Finally, after getting caught stealing ”a significant amount of money from a family member," Cory committed to getting clean.

"I'm lucky to be alive," Cory said in the interview.

Cory spent four weeks in a rehab facility again this past spring, but sadly his demons caught up with him that fateful day in July. Although his mother must be consumed by grief, hopefully she can take comfort in the fact that she at least tried to save Cory from his addiction.

Cory Monteith’s Death Ignites Family Fued

Cory's body was released to Ann on July 16, and she held a viewing at the hospital with Cory's girlfriend and Glee co-star, Lea Michele, 26, and his older brother, Shaun Monteith. Cory's mother decided to cremate his body in Vancouver after the viewing.

Ann, who is divorced from Cory’s father, Joe Monteith, did not invite Joe to the last-minute viewing.  He told TMZ he was "totally devastated" when he heard the news that Cory's body had been cremated before he could say goodbye.

Joe told the gossip site, "I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very, very much. I'm saddened at the fact that I couldn't have been there to see my son before he was cremated."

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cory’s family during this sad time.
