How horrifying. A woman fell to her death while on a first date in NYC after a railing on the 17th-floor of her apartment building gave way.
Jennifer Rosoff, 35, plunged to her death on August 1 after the railing on her 17th-floor New York City balcony gave way, police said. She was on a date at the time of the tragic accident.
Jennifer Rosoff Killed In 17-Story Fall — First Date Nightmare In NYC
Jennifer reportedly went outside to smoke a cigarette around 12:50 A.M. when she either sat on the railing or leaned on it. Her date allegedly told her it wasn’t a good idea, and moments later the railing gave way. (This is absolutely heartbreaking.)
Sadly, Jennifer fell backward and landed on construction scaffolding at the first floor of the building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the Huffington Post reports.
We can’t imagine how her date felt after his worst fear came true before his own eyes.
Only the higher-floor corner apartments have balconies, and the city’s buildings department allegedly ordered residents to stay off them.
Following the horrific accident, Jennifer’s date was questioned by authorities, but no foul play was suspected. She was pronounced dead at the scene and the medical examiner will determine a cause of death.
Jennifer Rosoff Had A Bright Future Ahead Of Her
Rosoff worked at The New Yorker, Lucky Magazine and Cosmopolitan before recently joining a new media advertising startup called TripleLift. She attended Tulane University in New Orleans.
Our thoughts go out to Jennifer’s family and friends at this sad, difficult time.
