After Gia Allemand died on August 14, some of her friends are coming forward to say that the stunning model had long suffered from depression, and that a rift with her boyfriend, Ryan Anderson, may have driven her over the edge.

Gia’s friends say she was upset that her boyfriend, New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan, hadn’t proposed to her yet, according to a new report from Us Weekly.
Ryan, who found Gia, 29, unconscious and hanging in her home, rushed her to the hospital on August 12 and stayed by her side until the end.
Despite Ryan’s apparent devotion to Gia, she was convinced that he wanted to end their relationship, and she had been making plans to move out of their New Orleans home and relocate to New York City before her death, according to a friend of Gia’s.
“I’m not that shocked [by her suicide], because of her ups and downs,” the friend the New York Post. “She fell victim to her own perfection and they were having problems.”
Another friend told the Post that Gia, who rose to fame on season 14 of The Bachelor, had substances abuse issues with prescription drugs.
“The first thing everyone thought was prescription drugs,” the friend said.
How incredibly tragic. It sounds like Gia was really troubled, but no one was able to help her in time.

Despite Gia and Ryan’s recent troubles, another insider told Radar Online that they were a “happy couple” overall.
"It's unfair to categorize their relationship as rocky, but in the weeks leading up to her death they did have their first major fight," the source said. "And because their relationship was so solid for the most part, Gia had expressed her sadness that Ryan hadn't proposed to her yet, telling friends she was upset over it."
After Gia’s death, Ryan released an emotional statement:
I'm deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends and fans. Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile. She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared.
