As we’re sure you know by now, 24-year-old Lily Collins is having a pretty big year, but at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards on August 11 in Los Angeles, Calif. the actress also had some pretty big hair. We happen to think the star of the highly-anticipated The Mortal Instruments looked fab, but were you loving her look?
Lily Collins’ TCA Look — Big Updo
It seems as though every starlet these days has the same look — long flowing waves, some bronzer, a glossy lip — you know the drill. And while that look is pretty perfect, we love when actresses stray off the beaten path. Case in point: Lily.
For her turn on the red carpet, Lily rocked a somewhat retro inspired look, the focal point of which was her 1960s style updo/bouffant hybrid. We love this look on Lily because — while it is quite a lot of hair — it allows us to take in her amazing facial features and beautiful makeup.
In order to create this fun and retro style, Lily’s hairstylist Mara Roszak started by “applying Lenor Greyl mousse to her towel dried hair. I then used a boar bristle round brush by Ibiza and set her hair in velcro rollers for extra volume. Once the whole head was set, I lightly sprayed L’Oreal Elnett Strong Hold Hairspray all over.”
Next, she used “L’Oreal EverStyle dry shampoo all over the head for added fluff and texture. The next step was to tease the hair all over the head to give it added volume and grip.” Then she put the hair ”into a high pony and secure with an elastic. Then tuck the ends of the pony under, creating a bob shape. Add a simple black head band for an extra 60′s touch, keeping some volume at the front.”
To finish the look, Mara sprayed some more trusty Elnett!
