We can understand why Rob doesn’t want his entire career to be defined by his role as Edward Cullen in ‘The Twilight Saga,’ but did he really diss fans of the movies that put him on the map? Read on to find out!
Robert Pattinson is doing everything he can to reinvent himself personally and professionally after spending the majority of the last five years starring in Twilight films and dating his co-star Kristen Stewart, 23. Rob, 27, has never been the biggest fan of Twilight — he once said Stephanie Meyer‘s novel seemed like “a book that wasn’t supposed to be published.” And after all these years, it seems Rob still doesn’t have a grasp on the Twihard culture, because he says he sometimes wonders “what these masses of people do the whole day.”
Robert Pattinson Disses ‘Twilight’ Fans — What Do They ‘Do The Whole Day’?
Rob is known for being a nice guy, but his biting comments in a recent interview with Germany’s Interview magazine may sting some of his die-hard Twilight fans.
“The real odd thing about this ‘Twilight’ target group is that they aren't really teenagers,” Rob said, according to The Huffington Post. ”Most of them are older.”
“Twilight has its own parallel world, its own fan culture that has been forming on the net since day one,” Rob said. “And in an intense way that has never existed before. Sometimes I ask myself what these masses of people do the whole day. They sit in front of their computers and comment on anything having even remotely to do with Twilight.”
Ouch! Twilight fans are certainly passionate, maybe even intense, but they have lives too, Rob! Still, we hope Twihards don’t get too bent out of shape over Rob’s comments — we’re sure he didn’t mean any real harm.
Robert Pattinson Is Focusing On His Music Career
Rob is a man of many talents, so we can understand why he wants to ditch his Twilight heartthrob persona and move on with his career. Did you know he is set to become a musician? A source close to actor — and now singer — revealed EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com that Rob is putting acting on the back burner in order to focus on music.
"Rob's number one priority right now is his career, in particular music," our source revealed. "He's heavily invested in his music career and it will only be a matter of time that he has a number one hit on his hands. He's that talented and that passionate about making this happen. Rob is a very humble, deep, thoughtful person and music is his way of expressing his authentic self."
So what inspired this change of focus? Rob is desperate to be known for more than his relationship with his former co-star Kristen and he wants to be known for something other than playing Edward Cullen.
"It's very important to him that he not be defined by the Twilight movies, or his relationship with Kristen."
What do YOU think HollywoodLifers? Did Rob diss his Twilight fans? Are you offended by his comments?
