It seems that Anthony Weiner can’t escape the drama. The democratic candidate is known for scandal, and once again has been recorded doing something that wasn’t very mayoral.
Anthony Weiner may be criticized for sexting other women while married, but at the end of the day, he stands up for his wife, Huma Abedin. Now, it appears that even a coffee run can go sour for the mayoral candidate!
Anthony Weiner’s Fight: Mayoral Candidate Calls Voter A ‘Jackass’ After Racial Comment
After ordering cookies and an iced coffee from a bakery in Borough Park, Brooklyn, Anthony heard a comment from a man inside that made him extremely angry, CNN reports.
“You’re a real scumbag,” a man who was later ID’d as 51-year-old Saul Kessler yelled out. Anthony responded by saying, ”very nice, that’s a charming guy right there.”
Saul wasn’t happy with this, and chimed in with, “Married to an Arab,” referring to Anthony’s wife who has proudly stood by her husband. Huma, whose father is from India and mother is from Pakistan, married Anthony — who is Jewish — in 2010.
“Very nice, in front of children. That is charming,” Anthony responded and began walking out. Saul yelled out,”You are disgusting, disgusting.”
“It takes one to know one, jackass,” Anthony fired back. And it continued to heat up!
Anthony Weiner V. Saul Kessler: A Face-To-Face Battle
The strictly words fight then turned into a face-to-face battle. Naturally, Saul commented on Anthony’s past, accusing him of doing “disgusting things” and added, “you have the nerve to even walk around in public.”
Anthony brought back up religion, responding with “And you’re a perfect person? You’re my judge? What rabbi taught you that?”
The back-and-forth confrontation went on for about a minute longer, CNN reports, and after leaving, Anthony admitted that when it comes to challenging him, he expects that from voters. “It’s America.”
He later called the argument ”just some enthusiastic exchange with a voter.”
Saul Kessler Defends His Racial Comment
CNN reached out to Saul later in the day, when he explained why he called out Huma’s Arabic background.
“It’s just a certain feeling I have as a Jew,” he said. “And my attitude is that — not all Arabs, but in general, they want to kill every Jew.”
He explained that when a Jewish person marries an arabic person, it feels “like a betrayal.”
“I probably shouldn’t have said it,” Saul admitted, adding that it was sparked by anger. “I shouldn’t have called him a scumbag, but it was in the heat of the moment.”
