Shellie, 26, stood by George through the trial, but it seems their marriage was not as strong as it appeared. In August, Shellie told ABC that she and George were having problems even before the shooting and she was considering leaving him now that the trial was over.
Shellie expressed her doubts again during a Good Morning America interview that aired on Sept. 5.
When asked if she and George were still together, Shellie replied, “I’m not going to answer that,” adding that she “wants to have children and stay married.” But when the interviewer asked if she planned to do those things with George, she said, ”That’s something I’m going to have to think about.”
Shellie also reportedly said that after she lied to a judge for George about how much money they had, she was angry that he didn’t stand by her when she was on trial for perjury, according to TMZ.
George Zimmerman Found Not Guilty
After a heated trial and intense jury deliberations all closely followed by the entire nation, George was found not guilty of the second degree murder of Trayvon, 17, on July 13 by a jury of six women on July 13. The jury deliberated for more than 16 hours before reaching a verdict.
George’s family stood tensely in the Florida courtroom as the lead juror read the decision. Trayvon’s family was not in the courtroom. After the verdict was read, George smiled and shook his lawyers’ hands, according to CNN.
What a tragic case.
