Perhaps Philippa Gregory, who wrote the novels upon which The White Queen is based, sums it up best: It’s a really extraordinarily romantic story. Personally, I wouldn’t make it up. It’s far too romantic for me, as a novelist, but it’s what actually happened. It’s also fascinating to hear how the actors — including Edward (Max Irons) and Richard (James Frain) — interpret their characters’ motivations.
